New Features:

  • Spreadsheet Improvements:The spreadsheet widget now supports a bunch of additional events, allows customization of the context menu, supports default cell style, imports and exports validation rules from excel. For the full list of issues, refer to the following Github issue.
  • jQuery 3 SupportThe 2017 R1 release of Kendo UI is fully compatible with jQuery 3. Note: the Kendo UI zip bundles still ship jQuery 1.12.3. In case you consider upgrading to jQuery 3, you may review the release announcement - there are several breaking changes, the most notable one being the promises.
  • Grid Improvements:The Grid now supports setting the minimum width for a given column which prevents a user from resizing a column smaller than its minimum width setting. Also added is the ability to set the initial sort direction for a column which sets the sort direction for the first click on the column header.
  • New Font-Based Icons:The icons in all Kendo UI widgets are now font based. Compared to sprites, font icons are resolution independent and look crispier on high DPI displays.
